Save the date - Saturday 6th June 2015 - Celebrity Tennis Charity Event
Ian and Julie will be organising another celebrity tennis event on 6th June 2015. This year, we will again be raising money for The Elena Baltacha Tennis Foundation and also for a local Alzheimer's charity, http://www.playlistforlife.org.uk.
Playlist for Life was founded by Sally Magnusson who will come along to speak about the work it does connecting people, memories and music. Facing each other on the court will be Kaye Adams, Judith Ralston, Sanjeev Kohli, Dougie Vipond and Alison Walker with other names to be confirmed.
Because music is central to this charity, we will be extending our event this year to include some musical entertainment also.
Last year , we raised over £10,000 for the EBTF and MacMillan Cancer Care. Both were extremely grateful for our donations and assure us they have put the money to good use. . This was the first such event Western had organised and it felt great to be able to contribute to two such worthy causes. There were also great benefits for the club. Although it was a huge undertaking, it gave us a wonderful opportunity to connect with the local community and to bring club members together.
On that note, if you would like to help, please email juliegtennis@gmail.com. We need help on the day but also in the lead up to organise prizes, raffles, auctions, social media, ticketing etc etc. It would be great to hear from you even if you only have a couple of hours to spare! We are also looking for event sponsors to cover costs like hire of the stand. Again contact juliegtennis@gmail if you're interested in getting involved.
