Special Events Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd April

This weekend Julie is organising two special events with Ridwan Pfluger (one of the tennis coaches at Western). Ridwan is a tennis ambassador at St Andrews University and is raising money to help children in Zambia (more about the project below). All the funds raised from the weekend's events will go towards the project in Zambia. N.B.: ALL events are for ALL abilities from adult group coaching/ social tennis/ team players and green/yellow ball juniors. Players will be organised in ability groups by the coaches so don't worry, just come along! Please text Julie 07910 126 452 to register your place or with any questions! Saturday 2nd April: 2 - 330 pm: Fun coaching and drills (£5) 330 - 5 pm: American Tournament (£5) Sunday 3rd April: 5 - 8 pm: Doubles PRO - AM Tournament (Donation of £5 suggested) Team players and social players invited along for a PRO AM event. You will be placed into two teams. Each team will have a mixture of team and social players. Matches will be played against the opposing team in a mixture of PRO - AM/ PRO - PRO/ AM - AM formats. N.B. This event will replace social tennis this week. A word from Ridwan: I need to raise money for a project I have organised as the tennis ambassador for the uni club. We'll be heading out to Lusacka where we'll be coaching tennis to large groups of kids at the Olympic Youth Development Centre alongside Zambia's no.1 player. We will also be doing work at the national sports centre coaching children as well. Any donations will help us make a difference to the lives of the children in Zambia by introducing them to new sports and new ways to learn these sports. Any excess money made will be used to help improve the community. A past project used the money to buy a kitchen for a school so they could provide lunches. Thank you for all your support in advance. Tennis Team Matches: The tennis season is now underway and all the home matches have been entered into the google calendar. This will be our third year running the event at the club. This year we will be raising money for Cancer Support Scotland, Playlist for Life and the Elena Baltacha Foundation. The basic concept is 12 qualifying locations in the UK split across 3 divisions with a grand finals weekend in Birmingham where players get the chance to play off for some good cash and be crowned BTC champion 2016.
