Oz Open Final - 830am tomorrow You can watch the final tomorrow at the club! The build up begins at 8am and the match starts at 830am. Caffe Parma will be doing a special offer of coffee and a roll and bacon for only £3 so don't miss it!(The normal full breakfst menu will still be available) The match is exclusive to Eurosport which we managed to get set up today and will have the telly in the front part of the bar just like for the Davis Cup final. Gordon Reid won the wheelchair final and Jamie Murray the doubles so it's now up to Andy to get the hat trick! Hope to see you tomorrow Ian

Squash Club Champs 2016 
Hi all and a happy new year!

 

It’s that time of year again, a time for the start of the squash competitions. 

 

Last year I organised 4 competitions, an open entry (main and plate) and a Ladies only (main and plate). I intend to do the same again with the addition of a veteran’s competition but more about the vets later.

 

The issue at the moment is how people enter for the 4 main competitions.  Last year, for the first time, I experimented with an opt out rather than an opt in system.  In other words I asked the regular players to decline entry otherwise they would be entered.  On the whole this worked well in that participation was better than previous years.  The danger is that too many players are entered but then do not play and I really don’t want that to happen.

 

The process this year is as follows:

 

FOR WESTERN TEAM PLAYERS

You will be entered automatically unless you request not to be so by replying to this email. It really isn’t a problem if you do not want to play but you must opt out unless you want to play.

 

FOR SOCIAL PLAYERS

You need to email me to enter.

To play in these competitions you merely have to be a member of the club.

 

I will organise the draw and publish the same by Monday next week (11th January) so please do not delay!

 

There is a modest entry fee of £4 and for that you should get a minimum of two games.  The entry fee will be collected through the club admin court booking system and details of how to do this will follow when the entry list is finalised.

Social tennis will continue (weather permitting) on Sunday 27th Dec and Sun Jan 3rd with this continued mild spell of winter! Just pay £2 direct to bar staff who will switch on the lights.

Davis Cup Final Saturday 28th Nov - 2pm start Watch the Davis Cup Final This Weekend At The Club! Saturday is the crunch match with the doubles tie. Come and watch at the club bar where we will be setting up a new TV area (at the balcony side of the bar)  especially for this match. Pizza will be supplied by Caffe Parma and tickets will be £5. With 2 TV's at opposite ends of the bar we can cope with a reasonable number but it will be first come.... Tickets available on the day .
